Never look past any opportunity that presents itself

Why did you join the Skills Accelerator opportunity?

The reason I joined the Skills Accelerator opportunity was because I saw it as a opportunity that I could not let slip by. It was my opportunity to let the skills I knew to shine and in the process get employed and gain working experience. One of the major reasons was because there are few real opportunities for youth in South Africa these days and if you do not take the opportunities that present itself it'll be difficult to find employment and that was a key factor in my decision.

How has Skills Accelerator benefited you thus far?

It has been so beneficial in building and developing my character and mindset through leadership and then upskilling myself through the deliverables that are given to us. The courses that I've enrolled in and completed have given me so much new knowledge that I did not know of. These courses have helped me through out this year and made it easier for me to deliver quality work.

What were some of your highlights?

A few big highlights for me this year would be the leadership hike that I got to do which was really good. Building a fully functional website for a organisation of my choosing was a really great highlight from this year so far.

What would you tell unemployed youth about this opportunity?

The advice I would give to the unemployed youth is to never look pass any opportunity that presents itself to you. No matter how small that opportunity might be, there is always a chance that it could open doors for you if you have the determination to make it a success.
